Description

Le Maître potier Alexandre Gempfenstein est d’origine russe, né à Odessa en 1909 et décédé à Ossel en 1973. Il s’est marié à Lyli Herman (1914 -1973). Il installe une fabrique 96 Chaussée de Bruxelles à Wimmel dans les années 30 avec une vingtaine d’ouvrier.

Son usine située près de la célèbre Villa des roses dégageait trop d’acétone, ce qui l’oblige à fermer momentanément. Il réouvre grâce à la collaboration d’investisseurs américains sur la commune de Heffen, près de Malines.

 

Ses créations sont simples, quelques fois surréalistes et souvent font penser aux réalisations vallauriennes des années 50.
